HIKE Project Partners Meet in Antalya for Collaboration and Field visit

On 22 – 23 January 2025, representatives of the European Association of Via Francigena Ways (EAVF) and the Culture Routes Society (CRS) met in Antalya, Turkey. Their meeting, held in the framework of the DETOUR project, provided an opportunity for the two HIKE partners to exchange ideas, strengthen collaboration, and discuss future activities focused on promoting outdoor experiences for well-being and the continuation of the HIKE project.

A key highlight of the gathering was a hike along the Lycian Way, one of Turkey’s most iconic long-distance walking routes. The hike was inspired by the HIKE project methodology, emphasizing physical and mental well-being through outdoor activity. Participants immersed themselves in the breathtaking landscapes of the Mediterranean coast, while exploring how the HIKE approach can be adapted to different cultural routes.

The group also visited the archaeological site of Olympos, where they reflected on the deep historical and natural heritage that trails like the Lycian Way offer to walkers. This field experience reinforced the project’s commitment to using hiking as a tool for holistic well-being and cultural discovery.

The meeting marked another step in strengthening the collaboration between HIKE partners and ensuring the successful implementation of upcoming project activities. The next phase will focus on development of the project tool kit and preparation of the spin-off project.
