HIKE inspires local hiking community in Bologna

On 2 November 2024, the group led by Roberto Ognibene organized a day of walking in collaboration with Simona Spinola, the communications manager of the Via Francigena and the HIKE project. This event revisited the innovative approach used during the HIKE initiatives held in Puglia last September.

Over 30 hiking enthusiasts, and members of the non-profit group established in Bologna in 2021, explored the Val di Fredda, a captivating trail in the municipality of Fanano, in the province of Modena. This itinerary provides an opportunity to immerse oneself in the region’s natural beauty, featuring breathtaking mountain views, remnants of World War II bunkers, and abandoned villages that tell stories of a bygone era.

The initiative, free and open to all, aimed to promote an active lifestyle through outdoor activities. Among the cultural and natural points of interest visited, Lake Pratignano captured the participants’ attention: situated at an altitude of about 1,200 meters, it is surrounded by lush coniferous vegetation and mountains, creating a delightful environment. During the stop at the lake, the HIKE project was presented to the participants, generating significant interest and curiosity.

With events like this, the HIKE model continues to inspire and unite the local community, promoting the discovery of the beauty of our territory and the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle.
