After the summer break, the travelling calendar of HIKE4ALL events is back, with new inclusive workshops and hikes across Europe. September will take the project to Spain along the Camino Lebaniego, followed by an event in Türkiye along Saint Paul Trail in October and the final gathering in France in November along the Templars’ Heritage Route. These events will bring the official calendar to a close, but not the project’s mission: connecting organisations working along European walking routes and making outdoor tourism increasingly accessible and inclusive.
This mission is already gaining strength through the many collaborations developed over the past months. In recent weeks alone, HIKE4ALL has been featured in several important events and initiatives led by the AEVF team. The project has become a dedicated module within the Francigena LAB online training course, organised in cooperation with the Italian Ministry of Tourism and involving representatives of Italian religious routes, with a focus on how to make walking routes more accessible and inclusive.
HIKE4ALL has also been presented to the AEVF Executive Board, shared as a good practice during the UK tour along the new Via Britannica extension from London to Canterbury, during meetings with local institutions and tourism operators, and is among the good practices to be presented to the AEVF network at the upcoming autumn General Assembly. A major feature was also dedicated to the project in the latest issue of the Via Francigena Magazine, with particular attention to the inclusive events held in Ivrea.
The calendar may be approaching its final stages, but the path continues. HIKE4ALL is helping to build a stronger European network around a simple but essential idea: walking routes should be places where everyone can participate, discover, travel and feel welcome.
